Bio
Pooja is a South Asian American, genre-agnostic and stylistically-diverse artist and filmmaker. Her productions include non-fiction content, narrative films, music videos, live performance and installations.
Pooja has over a decade of experience in developing and producing non-fiction content for film and television. She has produced and story edited for some of the highest-rated shows on MGM Television, ABC, MTV, E!, BRAVO, FYI, and WEtv Networks, among others. She transitioned this experience into scripted series, collaborating with some of Hollywood's most notable screenwriters and showrunners, including those of The Killing and The Witcher. She is co-authoring a feature film to be directed by internationally acclaimed Andrea Pallaoro and produced by Academy Award-winning Nicola Giuliano.
Pooja’s passion for theater and performance gained her training at the prestigious Shakespeare & Company (Lenox, Massachusetts), Jason Bennett Actors' Studio (Manhattan, New York), The Actors’ Gang Theater Company (Los Angeles, California), and Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (London, UK). Pooja is a Diversity Scholar at the critically acclaimed The Impro Theater / Impro Studio in Los Angeles.
Pooja holds an MFA in Film Directing from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) and a BA in Art History and Film Theory from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA. Pooja resides between Los Angeles, London and Bangalore. She is currently a visiting professor of Producing & Screenwriting in the Film School at University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA).
